Leslie D. Gaines is an Associate of our firm. She was born in Ft. Sam Houston, TX and raised in Ft. Hood, TX and the Florida Panhandle. In 2002, Leslie received her Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, from Florida A&M University (FAMU), majoring in Business Administration. In 2005, she obtained her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from The Florida State University College of Law.

While in law school, Leslie volunteered for the Innocence Project of Florida and the Teen Court Program, and she also externed for the Florida Department of Health. Leslie also worked as a summer law clerk for Baker Hostetler, and after passing the Florida Bar exam, she joined Baker Hostetler full-time as an Associate in the firm’s business practice group.

Leslie enjoyed business practice but felt called to practice public interest law. Leslie’s calling to practice public interest law led her to switch practice areas and begin practicing Social Security Disability law. Leslie practiced Social Security Disability law at Hill & Ponton for many years, and then she later transitioned her practice area to include Veterans Disability law. Through her work at Hill & Ponton, Leslie used her legal skills to fight for disabled Social Security claimants, veterans, and veterans’ dependents for over 14 years.

Leslie currently works in DSK Law’s Orlando office assisting members of Legal Shield in a variety of legal matters. In her spare time, Leslie enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
