Community Spotlight: All Children’s Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine

Amber Ashton, a senior associate in the Firm’s Tampa office, is an active member of the Development Council at All Children’s Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine in St. Petersburg Florida.  The Development Council was created to provide community education, fundraising and “friendraising” for the benefit of All Children’s Hospital.  Amber got involved with the Development Council after experiencing the excellent level of care and support available at All Children’s Hospital when her son was admitted there.  It was important to Amber that other parents and children continue to have access to All Children’s Hospital that takes what is most certainly a scary and uncertain time in both the child and parent’s lives and makes it a little easier.

Each spring, the Development Council puts on the Annual VIP Auction to raise funds for programs at All Children’s Hospital.  Amber is a member of the VIP Auction Committee and is one of the Captains in charge of the event preparations.  After a year of planning, the VIP Auction took place on May 1, 2015, and the Firm sponsored a table at the event.  Amber, as well as the other attorneys from the Firm’s Tampa office, Bart Valdes, Ashley Hayes, Kendra McCan, and Rip Haskins, attended the VIP Auction to support All Children’s Hospital.  In 2015, the VIP Auction raised over $260,000.00, to support the pediatric surgical fellowship at All Children’s Hospital, one of only fifty similar fellowships available throughout the country.

Amber is excited to begin preparations again for the 2016 VIP Auction later this month.
