What inspired you to pursue a career in law and how has that passion evolved over the years? I was inspired to pursue a career in law because I admired several family friends who were attorneys. I always wondered about the nature of their practice and hoped one day I might be a trial lawyer. I also watched the lawyer shows on TV, like Perry Mason. I found it very interesting to be in a courtroom and thoroughly enjoy courtroom work. 2. What do you believe sets this firm apart from others and how do you plan to uphold and strengthen its unique values and principles? I think what sets this firm apart from many other law firms is the closeness and the friendships that so many of the staff have with partners and vice versa and the friendships and the closeness the partners have with other partners. Employees find it to be a wonderful place to work. In fact, we have been voted The Orlando Sentinel Top 100 Work Places many times in a row. 3. What are some of your favorite hobbies or interests that you enjoy pursuing in your free time?? In my free time I enjoy college football and baseball. I am also a board member of Florida Citrus Sports that put on 2 football bowl games here. I enjoy the time with firm friends and family attending college football games and other sport activities. I am also an avid golfer on the weekends. 4. What are some of your favorite places you have traveled to and what made those experiences memorable for you? The most unique place I have traveled overseas to was Switzerland. Our son was teaching school over there one year and we visited Switzerland. We got around by train everywhere. As far as memorable experiences in the United States, I take bowl scouting trips for Florida Citrus Sports every year and I make sure and try to go to different cities and different college campuses throughout the United States. I find it very enjoyable to learn about new places and see new campuses. 5. Can you share a bit about your family or any important relationships that have shaped your life? I have been married for 46 years and we have a son who is a corporate attorney in Tampa, Florida. The important non- family relationships in my life, frankly, have been my law partners, and social friends through golf and other sports activities. DSK Law celebrates Black History Month. |
